Art Inspiration: The Tapestry

My friend Augustus suggested I create another version of Turkish Kilm (seen in the previous post) to re-emphasize that the original image is an Illustrator file (a vector graphic), versus photographs being morphed in Photoshop (a pixel image).

Having changed the colors and  background pattern of what was originally the rug, the object along the wall now looks like an intricate screen printed tapestry (Do a comparison and see which patterns I changed on the panel — at first glance it looks like a subtle change but a good portion of it has been changed).

Facts and Info: The Chair

To move the visual journal along, I drew into this environment the chair — Hans Wegner’s 1951 “Papa Bear Chair.” This beautifully designed chair is suppose to be a very comfortable sit, while also being a high price item for collectors; they can cost between $2-5,000. Although a piece like this is not within my price range, I am a big fan of furniture designed during the 1920’s-1950’s.

Art Inspiration

This illustration ~ with Mediterranean motif ~ was inspired by a delicious dinner at “Tuba,” a Turkish restaurant in San Francisco’s Mission district. I highly recommend this restaurant for its quality food, reasonable prices and cozy environment! (link to restaurant)

Facts and Info: About “Kilim” from Wikipedia

The name ‘kilim’ or ‘kelim’ is Turkish, and comes from the Persian gelim (گلیم) ‘to spread roughly’, which is probably of Mongolian origin.[1] Various forms of the word are used in other languages (e.g. Greek κιλίμι, Albanian qilim, Ukrainian: Килим, Kylym, Lithuanian kilimas). In Kurdish, they are called ‘berr’.
